In the mornings before most Americans give thanks to their higher power for a new day of life they drag themselves out of bed, to the kitchen and brew up a cup of old’ Joe.  No, not Joe Biden, Coffee!  Did you know that coffee is the world’s second highest traded commodity, behind Petroleum?  (Useless info)

What is it that drives so many of us to tears and extreme aggravation if we don’t get coffee into our system?  The draw of coffee is caffeine so; if we need it so bad, does that make us addicted?  Caf-fiends, people who are addicted to coffee.  I know a few of these grumpy sleepy-heads, that can’t say good morning without sounding like a hell-hound; growling and snorting about how bad they need coffee.  Get outta here with that.  I enjoy a casual cup, I don’t whine for it, or beg for it to come down on me like rain.

I enjoy it, I don’t depend on it.  The good news is that coffee drinkers can rejoice because that muddy water is actually good for some of you–

That still doesn’t give one the right to walk around with an axe and an empty thermos Zombie-moaning for coffee’!  That being said, let’s discuss some of the places to grab a cup or a jug.

Starbucks is for the entitled, middle-aged, spoiled-brats that stomp and pout about the morning until they get their Quad Grande No-Foam Latte!  Republican, wealthy suburbanites are the likely customer at Starbucks, if you aren’t one of these, they can smell you over the exuberant coffee aroma that permeates the nostrils.  I myself have gotten the “what are you doing here?” look and it wasn’t just the patrons.  Nonetheless, I enjoy the Caramel Frappuccino! What’s a Medium called again?

Dunkin Donuts, is for err’ body.  The common man or woman frequents this dive of a coffee shop, who knew you could get a steak and cheese with Jitter Juice!  DD’s has changed for the worse, watered-down coffee and poor attempts at up-scaling their options, has slowed down their sales growth in 2012.  The once popular coffee and donut shop has turned into a breakfast-brothel moonlighting as a deli.  No bueno.

In and around Boston, there are countless coffee shops that can be found leading patrons in by the robust smell of roasted coffee beans.  From sidewalk hogging, swanky Newbury Street Café’s, to midtown, cultured and cooler coffee shops in the South End; so many flock to these locations to get their liquid-fix.

We live in a face paced society, trying to keep up with each other and the progressive future that is progressively approaching us, if we need a cup of coffee to help aid us, then by all means enjoy a cup or two.  It’s not a good idea to have a bunch of non-operational, halfway-functioning people in the world, nor is it to have a bunch of jittery-shaky-drowsy folks either.

Tea anyone?
